Sorry it's been so long since the last post. We are definitely into the fall season. First off, Tibi made herself another cake....this time for Evening of Excellence. Of course, all of the young women "oooh"ed and "aaaww"ed as she brought it in. They all think that it's so cool that she can do these. It's become a fun habit for her. Now all we have to do is let her knead the fondant from now on instead of mom. It's fun to help her with something she loves to do. Here's her awesome cake. I'm not sure why there are holes in this cake....
Then Michaela and Vicki headed down to Carlsbad for the weekend to help grandma Packard recuperate from getting her knee replaced. She had her other one done about 3 years ago, and of course, swore that she wouldn't get this one done....but all along she knew she would have to give in. Marc was especially glad that we went down, because he was dying without Michaela....and vice a versa. Check out Michaela's new haircut!
Grandpa must have been somewhere because Marc got recruited to help grandma out of her chair. She had only been home for a day or so, so she was still very weak in the legs and arms. She has come to love Marc...actually we have ALL come to love Marc. It will be exciting when he gets to meet the rest of the family.
Michaela and Marc spent every day together doing fun stuff. They went to the beach and surfed, walked on the beach, walked the mall and did some shopping, and spent a day in Old Town in San Diego. Here they are at a yummy Mexican restaurant, cute as ever!
We got home last night at 11:30....I left as late as I could without cutting into the next day (for these two lovebirds sake). Goodbyes are always tough on them. It's the pits to live 6 hours away from each other. It was wonderful to be home in Carlsbad for a few days to be with mom and dad and to see my brothers and sisters. The best part was that I got to give dad a break from the cooking. I love cooking for them when I am down there. It's also nice to be home and get going on the wash and working on my projects again. I have a bunch of Christmas things to get done and I only have 5 weeks. Yikes!!
Wow- what a haircut! I like it a lot! And yes, you guys are the cutest couple ever. I wish I could've gone down to Carlsbad- I haven't been in over a year- LAME....sweet cake Tibs
I love the haircut, love the cake, and am glad you were able to help out grandma. I'm confused. I thought Marc and Michaela were just friends. Are they dating now??? Is Michaela still planning on a mission? I think I must have missed something.
I'll let Michaela answer Camie herself but Im really glad you went down. Don't feel too bad Kira, when wwe went in Sep. we had not been to Carlsbad since we got married.
Hey--guess what...I'm doing a little consolation prize for the "locals" who commented on my giveaway post...just let me know if you want 2 potholders or 1 basket! Happy Thanksgiving!
oh camie, this is michaela. marc and i dated when i lived in carlsbad- summer of 2007. then he moved and we broke up. then we were just best friends, and now we are dating. ha. long story, but hopefully that helps with the confusion.
Kevin keeps himself busy doing residential appraisals and Clark County Fair business during the day. He serves as the bishop of our ward, and probably has another four years left. Kevin likes to watch a good movie, read a good book, and take his wife out to lunch. He is an avid BYU, Boston Celtics, and Red Sox fan, and takes every chance he has to visit his kids and grandkids.
Vicki
Life has definitely slowed down for Vicki since the kids have all gone, but she still stays busy working in the temple on Thursdays, walking every morning, and keeping Kevin company during the day. She enjoys trying a new recipe, quilting when she has time, and reading a good book every now and then. A highlight is when she gets to get in the car and go to Arizona or Utah to visit the kids and grandkids. She likes long weekends, taking road trips, and cool weather.
Connie & Peter
Connie and Peter have been married for 12 years now and have 4 beautiful little kids, Jonah, Eden, Levi, and Everly. They live in Mesa, Arizona where Peter works for Wells Fargo Bank and Connie stays home with the children. Connie continues on with her education, and is taking classes through BYU-I's home study program. They are wonderful parents, have lots of friends, and come to Logandale when the county fair comes to town and whenever else they get the chance.
Kira
Kira is living in Salt Lake City and working at Professional Christmas Lights, a hanging company, where she oversees all of the calendaring. She loves Utah, loves her boyfriend Vance, loves the warmer weather for outdoor activities, and calls every once in a while to let us know that she is still alive. She is the queen of road trips and "gets lost" for weeks on end with Vance whenever she can. Kira is the designated "gypsy" of the family.
Lexie & Sharrid
Lexie and Sharrid have been married for 10 years, and have four cute boys now. They live in Provo, Utah where Sharrid is working at the hospital, and Lexie gets to stay home with the boys while she works on her first novel. They have a cute home just south of campus where Marce and Phoenix can walk to and from school. They go visit grandpa, Jeff, and Lisa often, and love the convenience of close shopping. Sharrid is always a hit wherever they go, as he is 6'8" with a 5'3" wife!
Michaela & Tommy
Michaela and Tommy have been married for three years now and are living in San Diego, where Tommy works the southern California region of the family business, and she continues her studies. She spends most of her time taking care of little Forrest, and building her calligraphy/custom lettering business. They are a very handsome couple and have quite a few friends. We are lucky to see them often, as they are becoming quite the travelers.
Tibi
Tibi finished serving her 18 month mission for the LDS church in Boise, Idaho, in May, and has been staying busy working for Kira and Vance in Salt Lake City, earning enough money to head back up to BYU-I in January for more schooling. She loved her mission, and made life-long friends there that she still keeps in touch with. She is enjoying the snowfalls of Utah, was able to see her grandmother before she passed, and is spending quite a bit of time with her beau, Dillon.
Landon
Landon continues to serve in Mendoza, Argentina, and returns home this coming May. He had the great privilege of serving under his mission president as secretary to the mission, and is now back in the field as Zone Leader. Landon is a great friend, a super brother, and a wonderful son.
