Veterans Day Parade

The Veterans Day Parade in Moapa Valley is always a big deal and has been for years. The kids marched in the HS band again this year, and Kevin even made it on a "float" representing the Clark County Fair, which he is the manager of. The weather was perfect and Tibi and Landon had the day off from school. It seems to me that the parade now-a-days is not what it used to be. This year we only had one band (no middle school anything this year), only HS cheerleaders, some gymnasts, 1 float (thanks to Inside Scoop, our local ice cream shop), Folklorico dancers, and about 3 horses, and then a lot of worthless advertising and cars. Maybe I'm just getting tired of the same old stuff, or the parade in general. All I know is that Kevin and I were talking all the way home about all the changes we would make to the parade to make it better. That's pretty pathetic... Maybe I just miss having all of my kids in the parade doing their different things and having two babies on my lap or out gathering candy. I had to watch the parade by myself this year. Not so fun, even at a parade.

You might have missed seeing the kids in the video. I had a hard time finding them when I was filming. Tibi almost gets cut off at the beginning and Landon is right in the middle after her. You'd think without the two babies I could have done this...guess not. Kevin is 2nd from left...another hard to see picture. I told you this wasn't the best parade we've had.

Can I copy that pic of the Fair people? No one goe a pic of Grandpa Don. Bummer about the parade but my kids still have fun simply because it's a parade.

That stinks that it's getting lame. It used to be a big deal. Maybe you should sell cinnamon rolls again! I was just thinking about this yesterday and how I wished we were there for the parade.

Go ahead Jenni, if you want it. It's not that great a picture. Maybe you could zoom and crop!

Well to be honest the parade has always been kind of ho hum for me because it's competing with all the other awesome things of our community and valley. Some are way better! The Homecoming parade is even way better than the Veterans day parade! The only reason I have a soft spot for the Veterans day parade is because it's the very first performance/event I did as a quad player. Back then to march in the V parade as a Sophomore was pretty special. "D" kept me playing even after that through the whole year, so 3 years of quads for me starting with the V parade. It is pretty lame though, other than the band, just the cheerleaders and a bunch of old people riding horses that poop all over our main street...not the best, like I said...just go to the Homecoming parade.

ha ha I remember one year Julie and I thought we could just BE in the parade without having to sign up. I don't know what her mom was thinking but we decorated her 4 wheeler and trailer (I was going to be sitting in the trailer throwing candy) We got down there and realized not anyone can just join in.....needless to say we had a lot of candy to ourselves...
